Abstract

Hypericum perforatum L. is a  genus belongs to Hypericaceae which is distributed in Tehran, Gilan, Mazandaran, Khorasan and other parts of Iran.
This plant have been used to medicinal purposes for many years in Iran, for example : as a narcotic, diuretic, analgestic, antiseptic and improvement of wound.
As part of a screening programme on the aromatic plants of Iran ,we are going to report the chemical composition of the essential oil from this plant which is named locally "Hufarigon".
