Saffron is one of the special agricultural products of Iran and due to its high price in non-oil exports has a special place. In this study, the structure of saffron market during 2001 to 2018 in different packaging and market power of Iran in target countries compared to competitors was investigated using Hierpindal-Hirschman index, and prioritization of target countries of Iran based on market continuity indices, average price (dollar), average import share of target country, price fluctuation coefficient and target country import share fluctuation coefficient were determined using numerical taxonomy approach. The results showed that the saffron market was between open oligopoly and closed oligopoly during 2001 to 2018. Also, the results of prioritization of saffron exports in packages of less than 10 grams indicated that Norway, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Spain were ranked one to three. The results of the prioritization of the saffron packaging in 10 to 30 gram packages showed that the best target markets were UAE, Spain and Saudi Arabia. Considering the prioritization results of the target countries in different tariff codes, it is suggested to use preferential and bilateral agreements on the marketing of saffron in countries prioritized in each tariff code (see the results) to be prepared to change the export pattern and reach the proposed pattern.

Saffron spice is the dried, dark- red stigmata of crocus sativus. L flowers is a very high valve material due to its applications, mainly those to provide color and flavor to foods . Dietary factors play a significant role in both cancer promotion and prevention. Carotenoieds are one of the most common dietary compounds that have been studied as cancer- preventive agents. Recently extracts from natural products and saffron ave also been shown to exhibit anticancer activity.the main pigments of saffron are mono – and di- glycosyle esters of the polyene dicarboxylic acid crocetin, where D-glycose and D- gentobiose occurs as carbohydrate residues. For the extracton of saffron 20 gr was successively and exhausively extracted with light petroleum , diethyl ether and methanol in a soxhlet extractor in the dark. The methanol extract contained the glycosede carotenoids of saffron. Separation of the constituents was achieved by silica gel TLC using diffrents solvent (mobile phase) system. The TLC method was time consuming and also gave an overestimation of the colour princiles.

It is desirable to use of point out to herbal components to avoid undesirable effects of chemical drugs. Saffron is used widespread as food colorant, flavor and reputes in folk medicine as a drug. Recent studies have revealed that components of saffron may have a number of physiological effects on different organs of body. The aim of the present study was to clarify the efficacy of saffron on the histological properties of testis in mice. Four groups, including eight adult male Balb/C mice weighing 305g were used in this study. Saffron extract in doses of 25, 50 and 100 were injected intraperitoneally for 20 days to the experimental groups. Control group received normal saline as placebo. Histological properties as seminiferous tubules scattering, testis weight and the number of primary spermatocytes, were compared with the placebo controlled group. The number of primary spermatocytes increased significantly compared to with placebo but no significant differences were observed in histological properties and testis weight between experimental groups and placebo controlled group. The results of this study indicate that saffron extract can modify the reproduction activities in male mice.
